Where Does Your Hope and Certainly Come From
When it comes to the things you hope for in life
The spiritual things
The things you hope God to be
The things you hope God to do
What do you hope for when
they put your body in the grave?
How certain are you that things will
happen according to what you hope for?
I don’t think it is possible for anyone not to hope.
Many of us have hoped for things that will never come to
pass.
That hope took us down a path that led to regret.
One of the questions we should ask ourselves is…
Where does our hope
come from?
All hope comes from desire.
If you don’t desire or crave it you won’t hope for it.
So what feeds our desires?
These are good questions because your desires leading
to what you hope for will determine your future.
The Bible talks about…
“Being sure of what we
hope for”
And your future…
“Certain of what we do not see”
God does not want you and I to be living a life of
uncertainty.
He wants us to live confidently in our hopes and dreams.
What can make us sure about our hope?
What can make us certain about our future we can’t see?
There is only one thing we can rely on…
It is not desire alone because we all have taken
that path and found this scripture to be true.
“There is a way that
seems right to a man but the end is destruction.”
Proverbs 14:12,16:25
Many of us are confident in our strength, education,
finances
and friends but have found we still have made wrong
decisions.
Your hopes are built on something even if it is wishful
thinking.
So what is that one thing that makes us “sure” and “certain”?
It is God’s Word.
It is God’s Word that gives us confidence.
The more you know God’s Word the more sure and certain
you will become about everything in life and the life to
come.
The Word of God produces something very
important, something called “Faith”.
“Faith comes by
hearing and hearing by the Word of God”
Romans 10:17
Hebrews 11:1 pulls it all together.
Now faith is being
sure of what we hope
for and certain of
what we do not see.
Our faith is not based on good
feelings, wishful thinking, or desire.
Faith is based on, and comes from,
knowing God’s Word.
So based on your knowledge of God’s Word
how sure and certain can you be about the future?
Our faith comes from a person who speaks
and who has written to us so that we might
know we have eternal life. I John 5:13
So we can prove all things and hold to what is true.

5:21
