The Blessing Whose blessing would you like to have?

The Blessing
Whose blessing would you like to have?

Jesus came to redeem you so you
could have the “Blessings of Abraham”

I bought a nice piece of property with a house on it
in hopes that my son would someday live in it.

But for now, it is better that we rent it out.

One lady looking at the house who
heard of my plans said several times,

“I wish I was your son!”

I think all of us at one time or another wished
our family had more money, more influence,
more love, more than what we have.

Your wish can come true.

According to Galatians 3, Jesus redeems us in order
that the blessings of Abraham might come to us.

Abraham is the most blessed person.

It does not matter if you are
male or female, Jew or Gentile…

Jesus came to bring you into the family of Abraham to
receive the inheritance and promise God gave to Abraham.

“If you belong to Christ,
then you are Abraham's seed,
and heirs according to the promise.”

Abraham was blessed to be a blessing.

Abraham was promised to be a great nation.

A nation that would bless the nations of the earth.

But maybe the greatest gift God
gave Abraham was His friendship.

Abraham was called a friend of God.

Abraham believed God.

Three simple words that unlocked God’s
 great love, promises, and blessings.

It was Abraham’s belief in God, his faith
in God, that caused God to bless him.

God said because of Abraham’s faith,
God credited him with righteousness.

Abraham, like you and I, came up short.

We work hard to do what is right,
 but we all fall short.

We fall short of living the perfect life,
doing everything perfect like God.

Many times our helping God
becomes God having to help us.

Our best efforts do not get it right.

The scriptures tell us, “Abraham believed God
and it was credited unto him as righteousness.”

To buy my house I fell very short of funds, but
the bank gave me credit so I could buy my house.

All the love of God, the promises,
the blessing, we fall very short of funds.

But the same credit God gave to Abraham
He wants to give all who will believe in Him.

So whose blessing would you like to have?

Remember…

He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to
Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus”

 Scripture Reading

Galatians 3:13-18 NIV
13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: "Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree."
14 He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus,
so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.

15 Brothers, let me take an example from everyday life. Just as no one can set aside or add to a human covenant that has been duly established, so it is in this case. 16 The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. The Scripture does not say "and to seeds," meaning many people, but "and to your seed," meaning one person, who is Christ.   17 What I mean is this: The law, introduced 430 years later, does not set aside the covenant previously established by God and thus do away with the promise. 18 For if the inheritance depends on the law, then it no longer depends on a promise; but God in his grace gave it to Abraham through a promise.

Galatians 3:29 NIV
29 If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Galatians 3:6-9 NIV
6 Consider Abraham: "He believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness."   7 Understand, then, that those who believe are children of Abraham. 8 The Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: "All nations will be blessed through you."   9 So those who have faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.
