The Blessing
Missing the invitation
God’s Invitation
begins NOW
Hope you do not have
other plans today
All of us have received invitations.
Most of the time we had no part
in planning the day and the time.
Generally when we get an innovation,
it is to something we
would like to attend…
Like a wedding or event that
will bring together
good friends.
Think about it, what is the first thing
you do when you get the invitation?
We look at the DATE.
We look to see what we have going on at that time.
Sometimes there is a choice we have
to make between two good things.
Jesus gives an interesting response to a person who says,
"Blessed is the
man who will eat
at the feast in the
kingdom of God."
Jesus tells a story about the invitation.
The first invitation is to a
person who just bought a field.
I have bought property and
it was a big deal for me.
The second invitation came to someone
who wanted to try out their new five oxen.
I never had oxen power,
but I have had horse power…
The new car, bike, boat or other toy.
The third was to a newly married couple.
I remember praying to God please
don’t come until after I marry Sandy.
All of us have turned
down invitations
because there were things we felt we
needed to see, try out, and experience.
There are a lot of things that make us too busy.
The interesting thing about this
invitation is we are not given a date.
Or, could Jesus be saying every day is the date.
Could it be the invitation is for us to
make sure nothing becomes more important
to us than getting our daily bread from Him.
Nothing should have greater priority than
breaking bread in
fellowship with other believers.
It is true when you die you can’t go back to
your property, powered vehicles, or your family.
At that time, the choice would be easy.
But when you die it will be too late.
The innovation is for today.
Are you attending the invitation
God has given you today?
Don’t decline the invitation today.
Scripture Reading
Luke 14:15-24 NIV
15 When one of those at the table with him heard this, he
said to Jesus, "Blessed is the man who will eat at the feast in the
kingdom of God."
16 Jesus replied: "A certain man was preparing a great
banquet and invited many guests. 17 At the time of the banquet he sent his
servant to tell those who had been invited, 'Come, for everything is now
ready.'
18 "But they all alike began to make excuses. The first
said, 'I have just bought a field, and I must go and see it. Please excuse me.'
19 "Another said, 'I have just bought five yoke of
oxen, and I'm on my way to try them out. Please excuse me.'
20 "Still another said, 'I just got married, so I can't
come.'
21 "The servant came back and reported this to his
master. Then the owner of the house became angry and ordered his servant, 'Go
out quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and bring in the poor, the
crippled, the blind and the lame.'
22 "'Sir,' the servant said, 'what you ordered has been
done, but there is still room.'
23 "Then the master told his servant, 'Go out to the
roads and country lanes and make them come in, so that my house will be full.
24 I tell you, not one of those men who were invited will get a taste of my
banquet.'"
