In Touch with the Spirit

In Touch with the Spirit

Jesus was in touch with the Spirit.

How in touch are you with the Spirit?

The scriptures on the Spirit are overwhelming.

The Holy Spirit works character in our lives
and we are told to walk in the Spirit
so we don’t fulfill the desires of the flesh.

The Spirit empowers us to be His witnesses
and gives us gifts to help strengthen the church.

The Holy Spirit also is our teacher
to enable us to understand the truth.

So how in touch are we with the Spirit of God?

How well do we understand our own spirit?

To be successful in our Christian walk,
we must be Spirit Lead.

How comfortable are we
with the Bible’s emphasis on the spiritual realm?

Paul tells the Corinthians that the things God has for you and I,
that cannot be seen or heard and our minds can not comprehend,
are revealed to us by His Spirit.

When I can’t seem to find the answers,
I have to ask myself the question:
Is my spirit in tune with God’s Spirit?

Jesus had a daily walk in the Spirit.

He saw things that no one else could see
that enabled Him to do things
that no one else could do.

So how do we get in touch with the Spirit?

How do we increase our spiritual perceptibility?

Paul told the Ephesians,
to be filled with the Spirit
and gave us some suggestions
on how to get started.

He says enter into
the gates of God (Psalm 100) with music;
fill your heart with a song, poetic psalm,
with an underline theme of thanksgiving.

The believer becomes refreshed in his spirit
and this allows the Holy Spirit to flow
like living waters in and out of his life.

Jesus got up early in the morning to pray,
I think if you and I were there
we would have heard Him
worshiping with a song.

Maybe the answers we have been waiting for
have been in the spiritual realm all along.

So let’s be filled with the Spirit
and discover the knowledge of God.

Scripture Reading

1 Corinthians 2:6-16 NIV
6 We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature,
but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing.
7 No, we speak of God's secret wisdom,
a wisdom that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began.
8 None of the rulers of this age understood it,
for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
9 However, as it is written:
"No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived
what God has prepared for those who love him"—
10 but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit.
The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.
11 For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man's spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.
12 We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God,
that we may understand what God has freely given us.
13 This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom
but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words.
14 The man without the Spirit does not accept the things
that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him,
and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.
15 The spiritual man makes judgments about all things,
but he himself is not subject to any man's judgment:
16 "For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct him?"
But we have the mind of Christ.

Ephesians 5:18-20 NIV
Instead, be filled with the Spirit.
19 Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs.
Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord,
20 always giving thanks to God the Father for everything,
in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

John 7:37-39 NKJV
"If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink.
38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said,
out of his heart will flow rivers of living water."
39 But this He spoke concerning the Spirit,
whom those believing in Him would receive;
for the Holy Spirit was not yet given,
because Jesus was not yet glorified.
