Forgotten
God can not forget those who care for others!
For God to forget those who care for others
He would have to be unjust.
There was a movie about a mother
who struggled to make ends meet.
She met a guy and ran off with him
along with her kids.
The man in her life did not want
anything to do with the kids.
They stopped to get a bite to eat
and the plan was set.
After the food was brought back to the car,
the mother said
to her child,
“Honey don’t forget the straws.”
As the children went back to get the straws,
the mother and boyfriend left the children.
Maybe you have heard those words as you were growing
up,
“Don’t forget the straws.”
Maybe you think God has said to you,
“Don’t forget the straws.”
He sent you out on a mission
and now you feel all alone.
You feel forgotten.
In Isaiah 49, we are told…
That if it is possible for a mother to
forget her child,
God will not forget you.
In Hebrews 6, we are promised…
That God is not unjust to forget our
works
and the love we show to those in need.
Those of us who have helped others
and continue to do so
will not be forgotten by God.
In Hebrews 13 God promises…
To those who help others that He will
never leave them
and He will be their helper.
A Gentile named Cornelius was
a God-fearing man who helped the poor.
Cornelius’s prayers came up to the Lord
and God sent an angel to him
because he cared for others. Acts 10
If God sends you out to get the straws,
to help others,
He will not forget you.
If it were possible for a mother
to forget her child,
God will not forget you!
Scripture Reading
Isaiah 49:15 NIV
15 "Can a mother
forget the baby at her breast
and have no
compassion on the child she has borne?
Though she may
forget,
I will not forget
you!
Hebrews 6:9-12 NIV
10 God is not unjust; he will not forget your
work
and the love you have
shown him as you have helped his people
and continue to help
them.
11 We want each of
you to show this same diligence to the very end,
in order to make your
hope sure.
12 We do not want you
to become lazy,
but to imitate those
who through faith
and patience inherit
what has been promised.
Hebrews 13:1-6 NIV
13:1 Keep on loving
each other as brothers.
2 Do not forget to
entertain strangers,
for by so doing some
people have entertained angels without knowing it.
3 Remember those in
prison as if you were their fellow prisoners,
and those who are
mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.
4 Marriage should be
honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure,
for God will judge
the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.
5 Keep your lives
free from the love of money and
be content with what you have, because God has
said,
"Never will I
leave you;
never will I forsake
you."
6 So we say with
confidence,
"The Lord is my
helper; I will not be afraid.
What can man do to
me?"
Acts 10:1-4 NIV
10:1 At Caesarea
there was a man named Cornelius,
a centurion in what
was known as the Italian Regiment.
2 He and all his
family were devout and God-fearing;
he gave generously to
those in need and prayed to God regularly.
3 One day at about
three in the afternoon he had a vision.
He distinctly saw an
angel of God, who came to him and said, "Cornelius!"
4 Cornelius stared at
him in fear. "What is it, Lord?" he asked.
The angel answered,
"Your prayers
and gifts to the poor have come
up as a memorial offering before God.
