What is Fruit?

So what is Fruit of Repentance?

Repentance is the changing of the mind

It is the thinking differently, reconsidering

Every thought you exercise becomes fruit that carries a seed or seeds

Matthew says

"Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is recognized by its fruit” Matthew 12:33

John the Baptist was a prophet telling people to have a change of mind (Repentance)

He called people to be baptized as a tangible start for a changed mind

A Baptism of Repentance, a sign of a changed mind

Your Fruit is the thoughts of your mind

 Like fruit, the seeds of your thoughts will be carried throughout the world 

The question is, are your thoughts good or evil?

Remember

“…by their fruit you will recognize them.” Matthew 7:20

 

 

What is Fruit?

 

At the time of creation God said…

 

"Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds." And it was so. The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening, and there was morning — the third day.

Genesis 1:11-13

 

These words…

 

“Bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds”

sounds like the definition of fruit.

 

In botany, a fruit is the seed-bearing structure in flowering plants

(also known as angiosperms) formed from the ovary after flowering.

 

I know there are those who love to argue.

 

And there has been a lot of people who have argued

about what is and what is not a fruit.

 

I hope you are not the type who

loves to argue and miss the point.

 

A plant or tree has to produce a flower.

 

 The flower will attract bees.

 

 And from one plant to another there is a cross pollination.

 

After the flower, an ovary, is developed to bear seed.

 

Over time the ovary becomes,

in most cases, sweet to the taste…

 

Like a plum or melon.

 

In nature, these fruits are the nourishment to animals.

 

The animals enjoy the sweet taste

as he carries it off to a new location.

 

And the seed ends up in a messy fertilized pile of poo

where the seed can grow and reproduce.

 

Fruit is not to be eaten by the plant.

 

Fruit is to be enjoyed by others.

 

Those who eat the fruit, knowingly or unknowingly,

carry the seed of the tree or plant to other locations.

 

The tree or plant has no control

of where the seed will end up.

 

The world we live in is full of seeds

 that have come from the fruit of others.

 

It is obvious to see there is good fruit and bad fruit

by the development of the seeds carried in the fruit.

 

So what is Fruit of Repentance?

 

Repentance is the changing of the mind.

17 Likewise every good tree bears good fruit , but a bad tree bears bad fruit . 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit , and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit . 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.
