Devotional Time Think

Devotional Time

Think

Our minds need something solid to build on

Otherwise our minds will be like a ship tossed in the winds of ideas Ephesians 4:14

God’s will, what He thinks, what is on His mind is

Good, pleasing and perfect

Is secure

So remember our devotional time is not about proving our point

Supporting our PBS

Our devotional time is to be a time of renewing our minds

A time to develop the mind of Christ

Remember “it is Christ in you the hope of glory”

The joy you and I seek for the life of glory

Comes as our spirit communes with God’s Spirit

Open conversation of your thoughts and God’s thoughts

As you meditate on God’s Word remember

But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. John 16:13

Think

What do you think?

What a loaded question.

We all think yet we all

come up with different ideas.

Why don’t we think the same?

Some say it is largely due to our personality style.

Our personality style does affect the way we think.

But personality style does not make your

thinking right even if it seems right to you.

The mind seems to be limitless in its ability to think.

Some one thought about electricity,

cell phones, microwaves.

Others have thought of power, like Herod

 ordering the killing of babies…

Hitler and the exterminating of Jews.

The mind can think about love

and in a blink of an eye turn to hate.

All the parts of your body

are controlled by your brain.

You and I do so much for the body every day…

We cloth it we, adorn it, we feed I, we pamper it.

What do we do for the brain?

Your brain is always developing

by the environment it is in.

It is your brain that controls who you are.

What you think matters.

How you think matters.

The brain and its ability to think and

feel is the greatest gift of your being.

Yet it can become our greatest curse.

Our minds determine what we believe.

Neal Armstrong believed he could

reach the moon and he walked on it.

Doubt and fear keep many

from their full potential.

Again our minds determine what we believe.

We call it Personal Belief System (PBS)

We all have a PBS.

Although we may find

others with similar PBS as ours…

There will be vast differences.

Most of us don’t realize that we

have a PBS until later in life…

After it has been developed.

Our mind (what we think) and

feel controls the whole body.

It controls our life.

So there is nothing more important to your

life than the proper development of your brain.

As the commercials that started in the 70’s…

“The mind is a terrible thing to waste.”

So where do we start?

Romans 12: 2 offers us two options…

A mind patterned after the world.

And a mind that is able to test

and approve what God’s will is.

Your PBS starts with your belief in God.

If you do not believe in God…

Your PBS will be based on what you

extract from the world around you.

For the most part eat, drink, and be

merry for tomorrow you will die.

If your PBS includes God…

You will need to renew your

mind from worldly patterns.

This renewing process is a process

of testing and approving God’s will.

1 Corinthians 2:14-16 says there

are two types of people…

Those with the Spirit of God

And those without.

Those who allow the Spirit of God to

enter their thought process learn to

make Godly judgments about all things.

The approach is not instructing God…

But for us to put on the mind of Christ.

Our devotional time is a time of mind renewal.

A time to put on the mind of Christ.

Devotional time is a time of thinking.

A time of testing and approving.

Our minds need something solid to build on…

Otherwise our minds will be like a

ship tossed in the winds of ideas.

Ephesians 4:14

God’s will, what He thinks,

what is on His mind is…

Good, pleasing and perfect”.

So remember our devotional time

is not about proving our point…

Supporting our PBS.

Our devotional time is to be

a time of renewing our minds.

A time to develop the mind of Christ.

Remember…

“It is Christ in you the hope of glory.”

The joy you and I seek for the life of glory

comes as our spirit communes with God’s Spirit…

Open conversation of your

thoughts and God’s thoughts.

As you meditate on God’s Word remember…

But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes,

he will guide you into all truth.

Scripture Reading

Romans 12:1-2 NIV

12:1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God — this is your spiritual act of worship. 2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is — his good, pleasing and perfect will.

1 Corinthians 2:13-3:1 NIV

c   14 The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 The spiritual man makes judgments about all things, but he himself is not subject to any man's judgment:

16 "For who has known the mind of the Lord

that he may instruct him?"

But we have the mind of Christ.
