Devotional Life Thanks Giving

Devotional Life

Thanks Giving

Man created the automobile and your car eats one thing, gas

Which refueling do you like better?

God’s or man’s

You and I are exceeding blessed because God created us

To enjoy a devotional life, you have to take time to enjoy

Time to give thanks

Don’t rush through a quick prayer to get to the food

It is alright to pray while you eat

Just don’t talk with your mouth full of food in front of others

  “In everything give thanks”

This is what makes devotional life so wonderful

Giving thanks makes a merry heart

When we take the small things for granted

We lose our ability to be thankful and the light of joy loses its flame

You don’t need to go to Wendy’s to get a great meal

All you need is thanks giving to have a great meal

Thanks Giving

I can remember a lunch

I had over 35 years ago.

It was absolutely amazing,

 the aroma was so inviting.

Every bit was explosive with flavor.

The texture and color so pleasant.

It was a bag lunch from Wendy’s.

It was my regular “go to”

several times a week.

So what made this bag lunch so great?

Wendy’s did not change a thing.

It was the same chicken sandwich I always got.

It was not the environment.

After purchasing my bag lunch from Wendy’s,

I took it back to my office so

I could have a working lunch.

What was it that made this lunch

so memorable that it is a

treasured memory over 35 years later?

Something happened that day

as I sat at my desk to eat lunch.

As I looked out my window and smelled the

aroma, I prayed a prayer of thanks giving.

My heart became over

whelmed with gratitude to God.

I have all my life prayed before I

eat even the simple bag lunch.

But this time it was different.

Along with thanking the Lord

for the meal, I got into the detail.

Each ingredient and the ability

He gave me to smell the aroma,

see the colors, taste the different flavors

and enjoy the blending of them.

As well as to feel the texture.

Giving thanks for that bag

lunch was so enjoyable…

I did not want to stop praying.

God had made me to enjoy refueling.

A devotional life with our Lord

is taking time to enjoy Him

and His provision.

Imagine the bag lunch, or any fine meal,

without the ability to smell, taste, see, and feel.

God created us with 5 senses to enjoy life.

It would be impossible to count all

the things God created for us to eat.

And the earth keeps reproducing food.

Now if you think I am going

a little over board…

Stop next time you get a meal and start

thanking God for everything God gave

you to enjoy it.

Then thank the Lord for the

provisions of that meal.

Your meal might get cold, but you will

enjoy that meal like none other before.

If you still are having a hard time

with being thankful, think of this…

Man created the automobile

and your car eats one thing, gas.

Which refueling do you like better?

God’s or man’s

You and I are exceedingly blessed

Scripture Reading

1 Thessalonians 5:18 KJV

18 In every thing give thanks:

for this is the will of God in

Christ Jesus concerning you.

1 Corinthians 10:31-32 NIV

31 So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do,

do it all for the glory of God.

1 Timothy 4:1-5 NIV

4:1 The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. 2 Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron. 3 They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth. 4 For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, 5 because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.

Acts 27:35-36 NIV

35 After he said this, he took some bread and

gave thanks to God in front of them all.

Then he broke it and began to eat.

Deuteronomy 8:10-11 NIV

10 When you have eaten and are satisfied,

praise the LORD your God for the good land he has given you.
