Devotional Life
Right and Just and Fair
There is a cry in our streets
The cry has been there before, but never as loud
The cry is for Right, Just and Fair
But do those crying in the streets know what is Right, Just and Fair?
The spin of politics and the media causes us to question
Does anyone know what is Right, Just and Fair?
The cry has become a cry of hate and violence
Anger has distorted the ability to think
Agendas are taking advantage and exploiting tragedy
The cry for Right, Just and Fair is taking us farther from what we are looking for
Proverbs 2 gives us the answer and verse 9 – 11 sums it up
Then you will understand what is right and just and fair — every good path.
For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.
Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you.
This is the essence of devotional time
If you are spending devotional time with God
you are receiving the answers to the cries in the streets
The World, America, your Community need the wisdom, knowledge and understanding
You get from the Father who created us all
Right and Just and Fair
There is a cry in our streets.
The cry has been there
before, but never as loud.
The cry is for Right, Just and Fair.
But do those crying in the streets
know what is Right, Just and Fair?
The spin of politics and the media
causes us to question does anyone
know what is Right, Just and Fair?
The cry has become a cry of hate and violence.
Anger has distorted the ability to think.
Agendas are taking advantage
and exploiting tragedy.
The cry for Right, Just and Fair
is taking us farther from
what we are looking for.
Proverbs 2:9 says there is a way to
understand what is Right, Just and Fair…
Then you will understand what is right
and just and fair — every good path.
So how can we find the answer
for the cry in our streets?
Verse 1 of Proverbs 2 starts out with…
“My son”
There is something special about a good father.
A father wants the best for his children.
God who created us male and female,
every ethnic group, comes from God’s
creation in the Garden of Eden.
James 1 says the Father has chosen to
give us birth through the Word of Truth.
God so loved the world.
He made a way for the creation of Adam
and Eve’s family to become God’s family.
Although Solomon is writing to his
son in Proverbs 2, we can read this
as God, the Father writing to us.
To understand what is Right, Just and
Fair, we are instructed as sons to…
Store up my commands within you
turning your ear to wisdom
applying your heart to understanding
call out for insight
cry aloud for understanding
Search for wisdom, understanding and
insight, discernment or discretion.
Search as if it were as
valuable as gold or silver.
All this will lead to a healthy fear
of the Lord and knowledge of God.
It is with this healthy fear…
We find the Lord gives us wisdom,
knowledge, and understanding.
The Lord then demonstrates…
Victory for the upright
A shield for those whose walk is blameless
Guards the course of the just
And protects the way of his faithful ones
This is the devotional life.
God wants to reveal to you
what is Right, Just and Fair.
He wants you and I to spend time with Him
so we can see He is to be revered as our Father.
Verse 9 – 11 sums it up…
Then you will understand what is right and just
and fair — every good path.
For wisdom will enter your heart,
and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.
Discretion will protect you,
and understanding will guard you.
This is the essence of devotional time.
If you are spending devotional time with God…
You are receiving the answers
to the cries in the streets.
The World, America, your Community
need the wisdom, knowledge and understanding
you get from the Father who created us all.
Scripture Reading
Proverbs 2:1-11 NIV
My son, if you accept my words
and store up my commands within you,
2 turning your ear to wisdom
and applying your heart to understanding,
3 and if you call out for insight
and cry aloud for understanding,
4 and if you look for it as for silver
and search for it as for hidden treasure,
5 then you will understand the fear of the LORD
and find the knowledge of God.
6 For the LORD gives wisdom,
and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
7 He holds victory in store for the upright,
he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless,
8 for he guards the course of the just
and protects the way of his faithful ones.
9 Then you will understand what is right and just
and fair — every good path.
10 For wisdom will enter your heart,
and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.
11 Discretion will protect you,
and understanding will guard you.
