Devotional Life Business

Devotional Life

Business

Busyness worries about the work - Business finds joy in the goal

As was said about Jesus

Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. Hebrews 12:2-3

It was in my devotional time my friend Jesus helped me keep focused on the goal

That whatever I do in word or deed do it all to the glory of God

He helped me see the Father’s business in my life

Where I was overwhelmed about all the work which caused hurry and worry

Jesus helped me see the joy that was set before me

Don’t forget in your busyness your best friend

Jesus will help you in your devotional time to see God has a plan for you

To turn your busyness into His business where you will bear fruit that will last

Business

All of us define “busy” differently.

I know people who say they are busy

when they have one appointment

on the schedule that day.

Although that appointment only

takes a couple of hours of their day…

They think about that appointment all day

long as if that appointment took all day.

Others have so much going on they

are late to the next appointment.

No matter how busy you are

your mind will always be busier.

Ever go to bed and find yourself

working on tomorrow’s project…

Only to wake up and find you

have to do it all over again?

Busyness effects the mind.

It can make it hard to focus.

Busyness can make it

hard to see the big picture.

Recently, I had got myself

into several big projects.

I was not sure how I would handle them.

I would get up in the morning and

my mind was on the busyness.

As I entered my devotional time,

it was hard to focus on my time with God.

I found myself in a hurry.

My time seemed to be unfruitful.

Busyness was causing hurry and worry.

This is an enemy to devotional time.

Two key things you need for a devotional life is…

Time and Concentration

Keeping your devotional time with God

can be hard, but concentration is harder.

So how do you handle the pressure of busyness?

For me the first thing I do is

keep my appointment with God.

Don’t let busyness get you out of routine.

If my mind is elsewhere…

I talk to God about it and ask for help.

I ask is my busyness God’s business?

John 15 is a beautiful passage of

scripture where Jesus tells us what

kind of relationship He wants with us.

The relationship is built on love.

Greater love has no one than this,

that he lay down his life for his friends.

Life is time…

 Laying down your life

is to lay down your time.

You can make more money

but you cannot make more time.

So you can’t give anything

more valuable than time.

Jesus says laying down your

life takes place between “friends”.

Jesus tells His disciples they are His

friends because they do what He commands.

They are not called servants…

  But friends.

Because of this friend relationship…

Jesus freely shares with them the Father’s “business”.

When I find myself wrapped up in busyness I ask…

 “Is my busyness God business?”

It was very interesting to see my friend

Jesus help me through my busyness.

Through a number of ways

Jesus pointed me to the goal.

Busyness causes us to focus on what we have to do.

The Father’s business never loses sight of the goal.

I chose you and appointed you to go

and bear fruit — fruit that will last.

Busyness worries about the work.

Business finds joy in the goal.

As was said about Jesus…

and perfecter of our faith,

scorning its shame,

 Scripture Reading

John 15:13-17 NIV

13 Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. 14 You are my friends if you do what I command. 15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. 16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit — fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. 17 This is my command: Love each other.

Ecclesiastes 4:8 NIV

8 There was a man all alone;

he had neither son nor brother.

There was no end to his toil,

yet his eyes were not content with his wealth.

"For whom am I toiling," he asked,

"and why am I depriving myself of enjoyment?"

This too is meaningless —

a miserable business !
