More Than You Can Bear
You are Stronger than Excuses
All of us have
dreams, plans and hopes
God too has plans for
you
But
the distance between where you are right now
And
where you really want to be
Can
be measured by the number of excuses you make and take
The
more excuses you make and take, the bigger the distance
The
less excuses you tolerate, the more you close up that distance
Excuses bury talents
But results bring
God’s favor
“Well done good and faithful servant”
Paul said in 2
Corinthians 12:9
"My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in
weakness."
Weakness is not an
excuse it is the revelation of God’s grace
And power in and
through you
You are Stronger than
Excuses
All of us have
dreams, plans and hopes.
God too has plans for you.
But the distance between where you are
right now
and where you really want to be…
Can
be measured by the number
of excuses you make and take.
The more excuses you make
and take, the bigger the distance.
The less excuses you tolerate,
the more you close up that distance.
Countless people make New Year’s
resolutions at the start of the year.
I’m sure you did, too.
by the end of the year.
When it comes to knowing God,
we are without excuse…
…since what may be
known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For
since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities — his eternal power
and divine nature — have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been
made, so that men are without excuse.
Romans
1:19-20
When it comes to sin
we are without excuse…
No temptation has
seized you except what is common to man.
And God is faithful;
he will not let you be
tempted beyond what you can bear.
But when you are tempted,
he will also provide a way out so that you can
stand up under it.
1 Corinthians
10:13
Lack of knowledge or weakness is not excuse.
The distance from where you are right now
and heaven cannot be reached by excuses.
Scripture makes it very clear…
What God not only did
for our sins, but
took away our excuses for continuing in sin.
Paul does not excuse the wrong
conduct in the Church at Corinth.
He does recognize the temptation but
he says there is always a way of escape.
We do not have to yield to temptation.
Paul understood weakness
but also understood strength.
He is not weak in
dealing with you,
but is powerful among
you.
For to be sure, he was crucified in weakness,
yet he lives by God's
power. Likewise, we are weak in him,
yet by God's power we
will live with him to serve you.
2 Corinthians
13:3-4
As you and I compare ourselves to God,
we can’t help but to see our weakness.
But by His power we have the strength
to live with Him and serve others.
God never excuses sin.
No excuse will overturn the guilty verdict.
Justice requires payment for sin.
Yes, Jesus died for our sins,
He paid the price.
But does that give us the
license to continue in sin?
What shall we say
then?
Shall we continue in
sin, that grace may abound?
God forbid. How shall
we,
that are dead to sin,
live any longer therein?
Romans 6:1-2
KJV
The very fact that God’s grace is on us
demands we do not live in sin any longer.
To know Christ is to change.
Therefore if any man be in
Christ,
he is a new creature:
old things are passed away;
behold, all things are
become new.
2 Corinthians
5:17 KJV
When we come to Christ we stop making
excuses and start making changes.
Are you where God plans for you to be?
Are excuses keeping you from changes?
You are not weak any more.
It is Christ in you
the hope of glory.
It is Christ in you that enables
you, with strength, to do all things.
It is God’s Spirit in you that empowers
you to do even greater things than
what the disciples saw Jesus do.
Excuses waste time.
Be very careful, then,
how you live —
not as unwise but as
wise, making the most of every opportunity,
because the days are
evil.
Therefore do not be foolish, but understand
what the Lord's will is.
Ephesians 5:15-18
You know God’s will for you and I.
We see every moment as an
opportunity to do what is right.
God has done so much for you and I.
He has given us everything
we need for life and godliness.
The three men given the talents revealed
God does not except excuses but results.
Excuses bury talents.
But results bring God’s favor…
“Well done good and
faithful servant.”
Paul said…
"My grace is sufficient for you,
for my power is made
perfect in weakness."
2 Corinthians
12:9
Weakness is not an excuse…
It is the revelation
of God’s grace
and power in and through you.
Scripture Reading
1 Corinthians10:11-13 NIV
11 These things happened to them as examples and were
written down as warnings for us, on whom the fulfillment of the ages has come.
12 So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don't fall! 13
No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful;
he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are
tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.
