Calling
The Sparrow
Sparrows, we don’t
think much of them
They are a little
bird with not much color like many other birds
So many times when we
see the sparrow it is in a flock so no one bird is noticed
When outdoors and you
hear the birds
It is a good chance
you are hearing the sounds and songs of the sparrows
Psalms 102:7, the
Psalmist describes himself as a lonely bird facing danger
I lie awake; I have become like a bird alone on a roof
Matthew 10:29 tells
us the sparrow has little value
And it seems they
were more of an annoyance
God sees your value
He knows your needs
He not only listens
to the choirs of sparrows, but the lonely one on the barn
We too need to listen
to the lonely sparrow on the barn
We need to flock
around that one who feels the loss and pain of life
Listen to the sound
of the sparrows
Listen to the songs
of your brothers and sisters
Be like Christ, let
them know they are valued
The Sparrow
Sparrows, we don’t think much of them.
They are a little bird with not

So many times when we see the sparrow

When outdoors and you hear the birds,

Psalms 102:7, the Psalmist describes
himself as a lonely bird facing danger…
I lie awake;
I have become like a
bird alone on a roof.
Matthew 10:29 tells us the sparrow had little value
and it seems they were more of an annoyance.
It is nice to think of us as an
eagle as we read Isaiah 40:31…
But those who hope in
the LORD
will renew their
strength.
They will soar on
wings like eagles;
they will run and not
grow weary,
they will walk and not
be faint.
Sadly, we don’t always feel like
eagles, but the little sparrow.
Recently, a young widow friend
wrote of her need for support.
This woman and her husband served
faithfully and tirelessly in the church.
They worked among the poor
and ghetto, helping hundreds.
Six months ago a man they had helped
in the past broke into their home
and strangled her husband.
Serving Christ cost this man his life
and his wife loses the love of her life.
Now a half year has passed
and the widow writes…
I still don't think
people get it or truly can know what I am really going through. The constant
reminders, flashbacks, rollercoaster of emotions and feelings. Just really
can't know. Thank you to those who try or have been there for me, believe me I
super appreciate it. I just think people have no real concept of the struggle I
deal with. I could feel one way for a bit and then bam.....total change of
mindset and emotions. So please continue to pray and be my friend through this
all.
This is the song of a lonely
sparrow on the roof of a barn.
Matthew 10, Jesus sends the disciple out to sing…
To those who stop and listen, it is beautiful.
But to many the sparrow is of no value.
Jesus warns the disciples that they
will be hated and suffer for Him.
But His warning does not keep
the sparrow from singing.
We are told Jesus would get up early to pray.
I wonder if the songs of the waking
sparrows inspired Him to pray at that time.
The calling of God cost, and when
it does, we can feel worthless.
Like a lonely sparrow on the roof of a barn…
Jesus in Matthew 10:29-31…
Are not two sparrows
sold for a penny?
Yet not one of them
will fall to the ground
apart from the will of
your Father.
And even the very
hairs of your head are all numbered.
So don't be afraid;
you are worth more
than many sparrows.
God sees your value.
He knows your needs.
He not only listens to the choirs of
sparrows, but the lonely one on the barn.
We too need to listen to the
lonely sparrow on the barn.
We need to flock around that one
who feels the loss and pain of life.
Listen to the sound of the sparrows.
Listen to the songs of your brothers and sisters.
Be like Christ, let them know they are valued.
