Thrown Under the Bus Team

Thrown Under the Bus
Team

Being on a Team is a good thing
God designed us to be a Team, He calls it the Body of Christ
We should never forget “We serve an audience of ONE”
In whatever you do in word or deed do all for the glory of God
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. Do not cause anyone to stumble, whether Jews, Greeks or the church of God—even as I try to please everybody in every way. For I am not seeking my own good but the good of many, so that they may be saved. 1 Corinthians 10:31
Do all for the glory of God
Seek not your own good but the good of others
Insecurity will put you under the bus
Personal ambition will put people under the bus
Let’s keep everyone in the bus and restore those under it
Because when it is all about Jesus, His love makes it all about us

Team

Being on a Team is a good thing.

“Many hands make light labor.

Teams allows for diversity.

I am not talking about diversity
like the media, who wants us to accept
all things and all people, that is chaos.

Teams that work together for the same purpose
share in responsibilities according to abilities
and desire making the work more enjoyable.

We get the idea of Team back in 1520…

“A group of people acting together to bring suit”
"Suit" think of a bedroom suit or a dress suit,
they fit together as one.
In 1928 the term Team Spirit is recorded
And in 1886 Team Player originated in baseball.

But Teams started back in the
beginning with Adam and Eve.

God said it is not good that man should be alone.

When God spoke these words He was
looking at the responsibility of ruling
over the earth, caring for God’s creation.

God has always been about Team.

 Look at the over 20
“one another” commands in scripture.

Greet one another, instruct one another,
be devoted to one another, agree with one another,
bear with one another in love,
serve one another, encourage one another

And the list goes on and on.

God wants us to work at being Team Players.

This is clearly seen in 1 Corinthians as we
see God has made us parts of His Body and we
are to work together and all parts are important.

In the Body of Christ are insecure people.

 Paul says it this way…

Now the body is not made up of one part but of many. If the foot should say, "Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body," it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body. And if the ear should say, "Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body," it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body. If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? But in fact God has arranged the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be.
19 If they were all one part, where would the body be?
As it is, there are many parts, but one body.
1 Corinthians 12:14-20

Many of us need to be encouraged
to be a part of the Body because we
feel insecure by the other people in
the Body who seem to be more visible.

There are on every team some players
that are better than others, either because
of experience, physical and mental strengths,
and some of us just think we are better than others.

We can sometimes think
of others as being in the way…

In the way of progress because
they slow things down.

Or, in the way of our
personal glory and recognition.

When this happens we need to watch what we
say so we do not “throw others under the bus”.

This is what Paul is talking
about in 1 Corinthians 12:21-26…

The eye cannot say to the hand, "I don't need you!" And the head cannot say to the feet, "I don't need you!" On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty, while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has combined the members of the body and has given greater honor to the parts that lacked it, so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it;
if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.
1 Corinthians 12:21-26

One of the greatest destroyers of Team
is throwing a person under the
bus when we say “I don’t need you”.

We hurt the Body of Christ when
we throw others under the bus,
when we talk about others in a way
that hurts them rather than helps them.

Yes, there are weak people in the
Body of Christ, there always will be.

There are none perfect no not one.

All of us are a work in progress but…

He who began a good work in us will complete it.

We need to be very careful about what
we say and how we talk about others.

Remember God will leave the 99 to go after the 1.

Everyone is loved and cared for by God.

If you feel like you have been thrown under the bus,

You feel insecure on the Team, remember this…

God put you there.

Recognize what it is God made you to do
and seek Him for the wisdom
to make you mature in that place.

We should never forget…

“We serve an audience of ONE”

In whatever you do in word or deed
do all for the glory of God.

Seek not your own good
But the good of others

Let’s keep everyone in the bus
and restore those under it.

Scripture Reading

1 Corinthians 12:12-26 NIV
12 The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ. 13 For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body — whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free — and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.

14 Now the body is not made up of one part but of many. 15 If the foot should say, "Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body," it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body. 16 And if the ear should say, "Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body," it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body. 17 If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? 18 But in fact God has arranged the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. 19 If they were all one part, where would the body be? 20 As it is, there are many parts, but one body.

21 The eye cannot say to the hand, "I don't need you!" And the head cannot say to the feet, "I don't need you!" 22 On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, 23 and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty, 24 while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has combined the members of the body and has given greater honor to the parts that lacked it, 25 so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. 26 If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.

1 Corinthians 10:31-11:1 NIV
31 So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God . 32 Do not cause anyone to stumble, whether Jews, Greeks or the church of God— 33 even as I try to please everybody in every way. For I am not seeking my own good but the good of many, so that they may be saved.
