Desire to Be With the Lord “Everybody Wants to Go to Heaven But Nobody Wants to Die”

Desire to Be With the Lord
“Everybody Wants to Go to Heaven But Nobody Wants to Die”

“Everybody wants to go to heaven”
The question is, Why?
Why does everybody want to go to heaven?
There are a lot of reasons
Don’t want to go to hell
Want to walk the streets of gold
Want to be reunited with family and friends
I like all those reasons but the greatest reason should be
I desire to be with the Lord
Galatians 2:20

“Everybody Wants to Go to Heaven But Nobody Wants to Die”

You have probably heard the saying…

“Everybody wants to go to heaven but nobody wants to die”

Death is the final stop to this life.

Nobody wants to die.

There is a fight for life that is in all of us.

Most of us do not want to think about dying.

Especially the way we will die.

Death is unpleasant and unwelcome.

I think God made it that way.

God is the Author of Life and He
put within us a strong will to live.

When the fear of death comes, our
emotions may be overwhelmed.

But God gave us the ability to
logically rationalize those emotions…

Where fear turns into adrenaline
and we fight or run.

One of the most popular hopes
for Christians is the return of Christ.

To be taken up to meet
God without tasting death.

Death is not something we want
to focus on, but for the believer…

Death is new birth and that is
something to get excited about.

You see…

“Everybody wants to go to heaven”

The question is Why?

Why does everybody want to go to heaven?

There are a lot of reasons…

Don’t want to go to hell.

Want to walk the streets of gold.

Want to be reunited with family and friends.

I like all those reasons but
the greatest reason should be…

I desire to be with the Lord.

I know that sounds too simple
and that is why I am writing this.

If we really want to go to heaven
we should be practicing heaven now.

What if we took time every day and made
that time an appointment with Christ where
we had on our door “do not disturb”.

What if we got up every morning with the
realization God was with us where ever we went.

What if your main friend on
Facebook and Twitter was Jesus.

What if you took Jesus with you
when you meet your friends and family.

What would these “What ifs” look like?

I wish I could be more creative
in my writing, but the point is this…

Is my desire to be with Christ?

Is my desires now a reflection of my eternal desire?

Nobody wants to die and the greater
the distance between you and God the
greater your desire not to die is.

I desire to be with the Lord as
much as He desires to be with me.

He gave His life so I might have heaven.

The greatest thing of death for the
believer is it brings us closer to God.

Scripture Reading

Galatians 2:20-21 NIV
20 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Psalm 116:15 NIV
15 Precious in the sight of the LORD
is the death of his saints.
