Knowledge Knowledge before Good and Evil

Knowledge

Knowledge before Good and Evil

Now Adam and Eve had knowledge before they ate of the Tree of Knowledge

Their source of knowledge was God

The things they learned and the joy of discovery had to be amazing

Knowledge is a familiarity, awareness or understanding of someone or something, such as facts, information, descriptions, or skills, which is acquired through experience or education by perceiving, discovering, or learning.

When you came into this world
how much knowledge did you have?

All of us come into this world
with an empty knowledge tank.

If you are reading this you have gained
some knowledge since you were born.

Certain things in life you have become familiar with
that have become facts, information and descriptions.

Your world is as large as your knowledge.

Our experiences and education are the process to learning.

When I was a boy in school,
I lived in fear of not knowing.

I hated tests because they would
show what I did not know.

I was afraid of being a dummy.

I though everyone else was smarter than I was.

I didn’t know knowledge was a process for all of us.

Later in life I realized being humble and asking questions
was far more profitable than pretending I was a know-it-all.

When I discovered how much freedom knowledge
gave me I realized I loved to learn.

Whether my knowledge came from an answer to a simple
question or the school of hard knocks I have learned to love it.

Because knowledge is wonderful.

Knowledge was a key issue in the very beginning
when God created the heavens and the earth.

Now the Lord God had planted a garden in the east, in Eden; and there he put the man he had formed.  And the Lord God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground —
trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food.
In the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
Genesis 2:8-9 NIV

In the very center of the Garden was the Tree of Knowledge.

The tree is described with 2 characteristics…

Good and Evil

Everything God created in the garden was
good including the Tree of Knowledge.

There were all kinds of trees God created that
were pleasing to the eye and good for food.

But only one tree God commanded not to eat its fruits.

Now Adam and Eve had knowledge before
they ate of the Tree of Knowledge.

Their source of knowledge was God.

The things they learned and the joy
of discovery had to be amazing.

There was purity in everything around them so
everything they looked at was with pure thoughts.

When Adam and Eve took of the forbidden
fruit everything changed forever.

The source of knowledge from that tree made them afraid.

It brought on guilt and shame.

Their desire to become like God to receive council
from another source than God changed everything.

Ultimately the source of knowledge from
the Tree of Knowledge brings death.

So there is a way that seems right to a
man but in the end it brings destruction.

Because knowledge is both good and evil God gives
us a lot of instruction about knowledge in His Word.

Because knowledge is so important we should
give attention to what God has to say about it.
