6 Cycles of Family
The Path of the Empty Nest is Not a Dead End
When your children spread their wings and fly away
DON’T FORGET YOU NEED TO SPREAD YOUR WINGS
“But those who wait
upon God get fresh strength.
They spread their
wings and soar like eagles,
They run and don't get
tired,
they walk and don't
lag behind.” Isaiah 40:31
As each child leaves the nest,
a new path is made.
Each one of those paths is filled with hopes and dreams.
When the one path of the empty nesters turns into
many paths, where will the empty nesters path go?
Until the first path branches out
the path was all about the kids.
Now empty and alone where will the path go?
This is a time of new beginnings,
it is a time for hope and dreams.
The path of the empty nest
is filled with opportunity.
As responsibly for the children decreases,
time and energy can be redirected.
God’s Word says,
“The steps of a good
man are ordered by the Lord.”
This is not only a time to enjoy the fruits
of your labors but a time to explore.
Explore God’s new opportunities
and direction for your life.
Through the experiences of your life and maturity that God has
developed in you is now to be released in new ways.
As our kids were growing up, they
motivated us so we could not quit.
But now the motivation is gone.
So what will motivate you?
What will get you out of bed every morning
looking forward to another great day?
If we only plan for
our kid’s future
and don’t plan for ours, we missed it.
So what is your plan?
Are you on the path you want to be on?
Will those God-given dreams ever be fulfilled?
Don’t sit in an empty nest.
Keep seeking His Kingdom first.
Keep on the path of righteousness.
Expand the road of wisdom,
knowledge, and understanding.
When your children spread
their wings and fly away…
DON’T FORGET YOU NEED TO SPREAD YOUR WINGS
“But those who wait
upon God get fresh strength.
They spread their
wings and soar like eagles,
They run and don't get
tired
they walk and don't
lag behind.” Isaiah 40:31

Scripture Reading
Isaiah 40:27-31 THE MESSAGE
27 Why would you ever complain, O Jacob,
or, whine, Israel, saying,
"God has lost track of me.
He doesn't care what happens to me"?
28 Don't you know anything? Haven't you been listening?
God doesn't come and go. God lasts.
He's Creator of all you can see or imagine.
He doesn't get tired out, doesn't pause to catch his breath.
And he knows everything, inside and out.
29 He energizes those who get tired,
gives fresh strength to dropouts.
30 For even young people tire and drop out,
young folk in their prime stumble and fall.
31 But those who wait upon God get fresh strength.
They spread their wings and soar like eagles,
They run and don't get tired,
they walk and don't lag behind.
