Stand

Stand

God gave the mountain goat

the ability to stand in difficult places.

And He has given you stability, too!

Rocks can be very dangerous to walk on.

I looked at some rocks the other day
and I felt a sprain in my left ankle.

The Bible tells us that
Jesus is a Rock.

He is the Foundation
we are to stand on.

It isn’t always easy
standing on the Rock.

We know He requires
righteousness and perfection.

We can sometimes question our ability
to stand on the rock
or to climb to the top
of the mountain of the Lord.

As Moses was leading the children of Israel,
they came up to the mountain of the Lord
and for fear,
refused to go near it.

They wanted Moses to go
and hear from God for them.

  It is an amazing thing
that anything can stand,
let alone walk on
the steep rocks of a mountain.

But God has given
the deer and the mountain sheep
the amazing ability to live
on the face of those rocks.

In Psalms 18, the psalmist says...

“He makes my feet like the feet of a deer.
He enables me to stand on the heights.”

When you and I
find it hard to stand
in the places God has taken us,
we need to remember
God has given you
the same ability as
the deer and the mountain sheep.

Scripture Reading

Ephesians 6:10-14 NLT
10 A final word: Be strong with the Lord's mighty power.
11 Put on all of God's armor so that you will be able to stand firm
against all strategies and tricks of the Devil.
12 For we are not fighting against people made of flesh and blood,
but against the evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world,
against those mighty powers of darkness who rule this world,
and against wicked spirits in the heavenly realms.
13 Use every piece of God's armor to resist the enemy in the time of evil,
so that after the battle you will still be standing firm.
14 Stand your ground, putting on the sturdy belt of truth
and the body armor of God's righteousness.

Psalm 18:30-36 NIV
30 As for God, his way is perfect;
the word of the LORD is flawless.
He is a shield for all who take refuge in him.
31 For who is God besides the LORD?
And who is the Rock except our God?
32 It is God who arms me with strength
and makes my way perfect.
33 He makes my feet like the feet of a deer;
he enables me to stand on the heights.
34 He trains my hands for battle;
my arms can bend a bow of bronze.
35 You give me your shield of victory,
and your right hand sustains me;
you stoop down to make me great.
36 You broaden the path beneath me,
so that my ankles do not turn.

Exodus 20:18-21 NIV
18 When the people saw the thunder and lightning and heard the trumpet
and saw the mountain in smoke, they trembled with fear.
They stayed at a distance 19 and said to Moses,
"Speak to us yourself and we will listen.
But do not have God speak to us or we will die."
20 Moses said to the people,
"Do not be afraid. God has come to test you,
so that the fear of God will be with you to keep you from sinning."
21 The people remained at a distance,
while Moses approached the thick darkness where God was.
