Teach Us to Number Our Days The “WHERE” You Will Spend Your Days

Teach Us to Number Our Days
The “WHERE” You Will Spend Your Days

Have you ever wondered where God wants you?
Check it out - it might be your Heart’s Desire.

Where is a big question?

Where is my place in life?

Where does God want me to spend my days?

The answer may be simpler than you might think.

The answer is in your heart.

4 Delight yourself in the LORD and
He will give you the desires of your heart.
Psalm 37:4

What is the delight of your heart?

Another way to say it is…
what are you passionate about?

You and I want to be where our passion is.

I am passionate about my wife, family,
church, and helping people in need.
These are places I want to be.

Not all passions are right
or make us productive;
so the best way to develop our passion list
is delighting ourselves in the Lord.

The person who delights in the Lord
will find the heart becoming passionate
for the things that matter to God.

There are two ways to look at Psalm 37:4.

The first is…  He puts in our heart desires.

The second is… Our desires are fulfilled by Him.

So if you are looking for where God wants you to be,
look to the desires of your heart.

If you are passionate about children,
then get involved with children.

If you are passionate about teaching,
spend time studying and find some people to teach.

God has placed in your heart
desire for the place He wants you to be.

You may call it passion, calling, vision, or dream.

As you and I number our days,
let’s not leave out of the equation
our God-given passion that will tell us
where we should spend our days.

Scripture Reading

Psalm 90:12 NIV

12 Teach us to number our days aright,
that we may gain a heart of wisdom.

Teach Us to Number Our Days Strength For Today

Teach Us to Number Our Days
Strength For Today

You can’t get lasting energy from a can
but you can get it from the heart!

Ever wonder why you might feel tired and worn out?

Maybe it’s because you are doing things
you have no passion for.

Remember, the last time
you stayed up past your bed time;
you were having such a good time,
you didn’t realize how late it was?

Or, what about the time you wanted to go to bed
and it was 1:00 pm in the afternoon.

What made the difference?

PASSION

Passion is what fills our tank.

When you and I are doing the thing
we are passionate about,
we may go to bed tired;
but we can’t wait till we wake up
to do it all over again.

The scriptures tell us to never be lacking in zeal.
 That zeal comes from the passion of the heart…

The desire to make a difference in some area for God.

We have a couple in the church,
they have a passion to see the church look good.

The church building is so large
that when they get done sweeping,
it is time to start all over again.

I get worn out watching them;
but to see their big smiles is inspiring,
 as they feel such great satisfaction.

It is obvious that their passion is not mine.

If I was asked to do that job,
I would burn out fast.

We have ladies who love to care
for the babies in the nursery.

 I think babies are cute and
like to make those funny faces
that only a baby could love.

But to hear a choir of crying babies makes
me want to put my head under my pillow.

Our passions are different by God’s design;
and your passion will not only show you
“WHERE” you should be,
it will also give you “ENERGY.”

Scripture Reading

Romans 12:9-13 NIV
9 Love must be sincere.
Hate what is evil;
cling to what is good.
10 Be devoted to one another in brotherly love.
 Honor one another above yourselves.
11 Never be lacking in zeal,
but keep your spiritual fervor,
serving the Lord.
12 Be joyful in hope,
patient in affliction,
faithful in prayer.
13 Share with God's people who are in need.
Practice hospitality.

Psalm 20:1-5 NIV
May the LORD answer you when you are in distress;
may the name of the God of Jacob protect you.
2 May he send you help from the sanctuary
and grant you support from Zion.
3 May he remember all your sacrifices
and accept your burnt offerings.  Selah
4 May he give you the desire of your heart
and make all your plans succeed.
5 We will shout for joy when you are victorious
and will lift up our banners in the name of our God.
May the LORD grant all your requests.

Proverbs 10:24 NIV
24 What the wicked dreads will overtake him;
what the righteous desire will be granted.

Teach Us to Number Our Days Designed by God - Personal Style

Teach Us to Number Our Days
Designed by God - Personal Style

God uses the hard times as well as the good times
to develop your personality.

Your temperament or personal style
reveals the “HOW” of your life.

God determined “how” you would relate
to the world around you before you were born.

Anyone with a little knowledge about temperaments
can quickly identified them even among preschool children.

If you have never done it before,
you might find it fun to see
which Bible character you are most like.

Would it be Abraham!
A great patriarch;
but who was, at times, indecisive and faithless?
Or, perhaps it is Moses?
Another great leader;
but prone to anger and moodiness.

Peter?
A great talker and charming;
but erratic and often spoke/acted without thinking.

Maybe Paul?
A brilliant scholar and missionary;
but often unloving and controlling.

God gave us rich examples
and illustrations in Scripture.

Examples of believers
who were just like us.

Who were infused with His power
to do great things.

As we get a peek into their lives,
we can see how God used them.

God recorded His work in their lives
so that we might get a better picture
of how He might be working in our lives.
Whether you are a Sanguine like Peter,
a Choleric like Apostle Paul,
a Phlegmatic like Abraham
or a Melancholic like Moses

The Lord is working daily in your life
to develop your temperament for His service.
Every temperament has strengths and weaknesses.

And throughout your life,
God has been working on your strengths.

Take a few minutes to number the events in your life
that were used to shaped your personal style.

Scripture Reading

Psalm 139:13-16 The Message

13 Oh yes, you shaped me first inside, then out;
you formed me in my mother's womb.
14 I thank you, High God — you're breathtaking!
Body and soul, I am marvelously made!
I worship in adoration — what a creation!
15 You know me inside and out,
you know every bone in my body;
You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit,
how I was sculpted from nothing into something.
16 Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth;
all the stages of my life were spread out before you,
The days of my life all prepared
before I'd even lived one day.
