Calling
Walking in Truth and Love
Dramamine is most effective
if taken 30 minutes before you get sick.
Speaking the truth
in love is most
effective when given early!
I love fishing and the water.
Boating is a real joy to me, until
the waves start rocking my boat.
I soon start to lose my balance
and then everything I have eaten
is barfed overboard.
That’s how it is when we don’t
have a good
understanding
of God’s Word.
We hear something that sounds good,
from a friend or the media,
that seems contrary to what
we have heard
from God.
Or…
We face something in life that
doesn’t seem to line up with
our understanding of God.
And…
Before we know it we are sea sick.
We can’t make up our mind.
And…
If we aren’t careful,
we will barf up the Word
of God we have eaten.
If you are in this place,
you need the “truth
in love.”
It takes both truth
and love to get you feeling better.
One without the other will not get you through.
In that time of confusion, we need
the truth
from someone who loves us.
Someone we know cares about our
life and what
happens to us.
Unfortunately, there are those who think
it is their job to force feed you truth.
And there are those who love us
so much they won’t say a thing,
thinking it might upset us.
I have learned how to handle rough waters over
the years but I still find times I get sea sick.
It doesn’t seem to matter
how experienced we may become,
we all need the truth
with love.
When I go out on the water,
I know if it is a 1 or 2 ‘Dramamine Day’.
When we work together, and grow up into Christ,
we need to keep the bottle of “truth and love” handy
for the times of doubt, fear, and temptation.
Speaking the truth
in love will
help us get our sea legs so we
can walk worthy
of our calling.
Scripture Reading
Ephesians 4:11-16 NIV
11 It was he who gave
some to be apostles,
some to be prophets,
some to be
evangelists,
and some to be
pastors
and teachers,
12 to prepare God's
people for works of service,
so that the body of
Christ may be built up
13 until we all reach
unity in the faith
and in the knowledge
of the Son of God
and become mature,
attaining to the
whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
14 Then we will no
longer be infants,
tossed back and forth
by the waves,
and blown here and
there by every wind of teaching
and by the cunning
and craftiness of men
in their deceitful
scheming.
15 Instead, speaking
the truth in love,
we will in all things
grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ.
16 From him the whole
body,
joined and held
together by every supporting ligament,
grows and builds
itself up in love,
as each part does its
work.
John 8:31-32 NIV
"If you hold to my teaching,
you are really my
disciples.
32 Then you will know
the truth,
and the truth will set you free."
