Calling
Don’t Grieve the Holy Spirit
Do the things that grieve the Holy Spirit grieve us?
Do we cry when He cries?
If so, than He will grieve when you grieve
and give you strength.
For some of us it might be an eye opener
to see that we can grieve
the Holy Spirit.
Whether you look at the Greek
or the English dictionary,
you will find the word grieve
means “to
distress.”
This word helps us understand
the depth of emotions
the Spirit of God is capable of.
The fact that your actions and mine
can cause Him to be distressed,
and full of heaviness
or to be sorrowful,
is amazing.
What we do matters
to The Holy Spirit.
He really cares!
If you have ever been grieved
over the actions of someone else,
than maybe you can understand
the heart of God.
This verse reminds me
of the time Jesus
came to Jerusalem
and He wept over it.
He wept because
they were about to miss
the greatest blessing
in their life time;
in fact in history.
Because they lost focus,
got tired of waiting,
they were blind to all
that God had for them.
The Holy Spirit grieves
when our choices keep
us from the blessings
He has for us.
We are reminded in
verse 30 of Ephesians 4,
that the Holy Spirit is
the one that keeps us sealed
for the day of our redemption.
What a wonderful blessing
the Holy Spirit holds for us.
We, in no way,
want to make Him sorry.
So let’s remember…
He is watching!
Let’s put a twinkle in His eye
instead of a tear.
Scripture Reading
Ephesians 4:30 NIV
with
whom you were sealed
for the day of
redemption.
Ephesians 4:30 AMP
30 And do not grieve
the Holy Spirit of God
[do not offend or vex
or sadden Him],
by Whom you were
sealed
(marked, branded as
God's own, secured)
for the day of
redemption
(of final deliverance
through Christ
from evil and the
consequences of sin).
Ephesians 4:30 THE MESSAGE
30 Don't grieve God.
Don't break his
heart.
His Holy Spirit,
moving and breathing
in you,
is the most intimate
part of your life,
making you fit for himself.
Don't take such a
gift for granted.

Luke 19:41-44 NIV
41 As he approached Jerusalem and saw the
city,
he wept over it 42
and said,
"If you, even
you,
had only known on
this day what would bring you peace
— but now it is
hidden from your eyes.
43 The days will come
upon you when your enemies
will build an
embankment against you
and encircle you and
hem you in on every side.
44 They will dash you
to the ground,
you and the children
within your walls.
They will not leave
one stone on another,
because you did not
recognize the time of God's coming to you."
