Enlightenment Eyes of the Heart
Have you ever considered
a pair of glasses for your heart?
God has many things for you
that only your heart can see.
One night my eyes were attracted to an office building.
I had seen this building
many times before in the day time,
and never gave
it a thought.
What made it stand out
was the blue light revealing
the detail of that building.
The source of the lights could not be seen
but the attention the light brought
to the building was incredible.
Paul prayed that
“the eyes of the heart would be
enlightened.”
The flood lights in the night revealed the details.
In fact, I had never given the building
I could see in the day time, any thought.
Wouldn’t it be a good idea,
if we would pray that our God
and Father of Jesus Christ
would enlighten
the eyes of our heart.
Our prayer would have to be something like this:
“ Lord, help me to become
more teachable,
don’t let me error on the side of being
too simple, ignorant or naïve.
Enlighten my heart
so that I may have the passion
to grow into all aspects of Christ.”
The heart is the seat of our emotions.
When we see through
the eyes of our heart,
we get more than a visual.
We feel what we see.
The eyes of the heart
take us past
knowledge.
They take us into the realm of feelings
where we become passionate
and full of expectation.
The eyes of our heart
are able to see the Spirit’s wisdom
and open up to revelation
giving us a greater ability
to see the details of Christ
and the will of God.
Oh God, open the eyes of my heart, Lord!
I want to see you!

Scripture Reading
Ephesians 1:15-23 NIV
15 For this reason,
ever since I heard about your
faith in the Lord
Jesus
and your love for all
the saints,
16 I have not stopped
giving thanks for you,
remembering you in my
prayers.
17 I keep asking that
the God of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the glorious Father,
may give you the
Spirit of wisdom and revelation,
so that you may know
him better.
18 I pray also that
the eyes of your heart may be
enlightened
in order that you may
know the hope to which he has called you,
the riches of his
glorious inheritance in the saints,
19 and his
incomparably great power for us who believe.
That power is like
the working of his mighty strength,
20 which he exerted
in Christ when he raised him from the dead
and seated him at his
right hand in the heavenly realms,
21 far above all rule
and authority, power and dominion,
and every title that
can be given,
not only in the
present age but also in the one to come.
22 And God placed all
things under his feet
and appointed him to
be head over everything for the church,
23 which is his body,
the fullness of him
who fills everything in every way.
