Calling According to His Purpose
The apostle Paul urges us to live a life worthy of our calling.
Ephesians 3:1
Calling, purpose, reason for being here.
Life is more than existence.
So what is my calling?
What do I have to do in order to be worthy?
A much quoted verse in Romans gives us some neat clues.
In Chapter 8, verse 28, we get some tremendous news.
In all things,
God is working for the best benefits
of those who love Him.
If you love God,
there is not an area of your life
He is not working in.
Not one area He isn’t
working good things
out for you.
The outcome of your life and mine
is divinely coming together because we
are called according to His purpose and plan.
The answer to what is our calling
is stated very clearly in Romans 8:29.
We are called to model Christ in the earth.
Simple - WWJD
In every area of our life, we ask,
“What would Jesus do” and “do it.”
You and I were ordained.
In fact, the ordination happened
before the creation of the world.
I clearly remember when I was
ordained as an Elder/ Pastor.
I never felt worthy or adequate.
What I had to realize was God put me there.
God has ordained you with
the calling to be like His Son.
You and I can not justify our calling,
but God can and He did.
And because God justified you,
He will also glorify you.
So the good, God is working out
of your life will be glorious.
So this thing about calling and predestination
is not to be complicated.
Just do what you think Jesus would do.
That’s the road to good and glorious things.
Scripture Reading
Ephesians 4:1-2 NIV
As a prisoner for the Lord, then,
I urge you to live
a life worthy of the calling
you have received.
Romans 8:28-30 NIV
28 And we know that
in all things
God works for the
good of those who love him,
who have been called according to his purpose.
29 For those God
foreknew
he also predestined
to be conformed
to the likeness of
his Son,
that he might be the
firstborn
among many brothers.
30 And those he
predestined,
he also called;
those he called,
he also justified;
those he justified,
he also glorified.
