The Path You Are On is Not Going to End Well
Making Successful Plans
What if you moved your planning room to your prayer room
What if while you are acting on your plans take the Lord with you
Realize God has said never will I leave you, that is God’s commitment to you
But what about your commitment to Him?
Are you willing to make the same commitment to God?
The commitment that says, “never will I leave God”
Successful plans start with a successful partner
Commit to the Lord whatever you do,
and your plans will succeed.
Making Successful Plans
Proverbs 16:25…
There is a way that seems right to a man,
but in the end it leads to death.
How is it that our plans
can lead to a dead end?
Why is it our thought can seem right
but get wrong results?
What are our plans?
Are they not the answers
to our questions on life?
From the simplest things
to the most complicated question in life…
We make plans that answer those questions.
When you get up in the morning
your mind fills with questions, like…
What shall I wear?
What shall I eat?
These simple questions turn into plans
to answer the questions.
Life is full of bigger questions, like…
How do I get a dream house?
How do I raise my family?
Proverbs 16:1 says…
To man belong the plans of the heart,
And Proverbs 16:2 tells us…
All a man's ways seem innocent to him.
You and I have ownership in making plans.
Most of us look at our planning as innocent
and a part of getting more out of life.
Everyone of us makes plans.
Some of us love making plans…
Our minds are going 100 miles an hour.
While others, like a more laid-back life
and plan to let others do the detailed planning.
We all have found out that our plans
have not always worked out.
So if…
To man belong the plans of the heart.
God has given us the ability to make plans and yet…
There is a way that seems right to a man,
but in the end it leads to death.
How do we avoid dead end plans?
Proverbs 16 gives us a lot of advice…
But for now lets just focus on the first three verses.
Proverbs 16:1-3…
To man belong the plans of the heart,
but from the Lord comes the reply of the tongue.
2 All a man's ways seem innocent to him,
but motives are weighed by the Lord.
3 Commit to the Lord whatever you do,
and your plans will succeed.
Verse 1…
From the Lord comes the reply of the tongue.
God has something to say about the plans
we make in our heart.
Why does God have something
to say about our plans?
Verse 2…
Motives are weighed by the Lord.
What goes on in the heart brings feelings
of great joy
But on the other end, deep depression.
I love the feelings of love for Sandy.
We planned to marry and build life together
over 51 years ago.
Over those 51 years, the plans in my heart
have not always produced good results.
Why?
Because my motives were not innocent
resulting in hurt and pain.
I did not always realize my motives
were selfish or unkind.
I did not always realize being right,
I could be wrong.
God is there for us to weigh the motives
of our heart that effect our plans.
Verse 3…
Gives us the answer to having successful plans…
Commit to the Lord whatever you do,
and your plans will succeed.
How do we commit our plans to the Lord?
First of all…
We must commit whatever we do.
You and I are always doing something
so our commitment has to
include God in everything.
Most of us do not like someone
looking over our shoulders.
Invite God to work beside you
as you are at the drafting table?
Talk to Him about each detail of your plans.
Make the Lord your partner…
Don’t withhold anything from Him.
What if you moved your planning room
to your prayer room.
And while you are acting on your plans
take the Lord with you.
Realize God has said never will I leave you.
That is God’s commitment to you.
But what about your commitment to Him?
Are you willing to make the same commitment to God?
The commitment that says…
“Never will I leave God”.
Successful plans start with a successful partner.
Commit to the Lord whatever you do,
and your plans will succeed.
