Godless
|
Ask yourself a
question what would a godless society look like?
A society where no
one thinks about God
No one is influenced
by God?
If it is fair to ask
the question what happens to a God “less” society
We have to ask
ourselves this question
How much “less” of
God is in my life?
What silence in my
life has caused me to have less of God?
Don’t settle for “less”
Less of God will
destroy a society
Less of God will
destroy you

Godless
Ask yourself a question what
would a godless society look like?
A society where no one thinks about God.
No one is influenced by God.
The word less is the opposite of more.
I remember as a boy praying in school along
with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag
at the start of every school day.
at the start of every school day.
I remember stores and businesses
were not open on Sundays.
I remember bullies, but there were
always those you would stand up
and defend those who were bullied.
I remember respect and love with
strong family values on our TVs.
I don’t remember swear words being popular.
I remember the kids in my neighborhood
having a mom and a dad at home.
I remember honor and respect for our police.
We fought for America, not against it.
I remember pride in the words…
‘One Nation Under God”
And “In God We Trust”
In a very fast 60 years
something has happened.
The peace, security, hope, freedom,
love, care, compassion are less a part
of my life and society in America.
What has changed?
We could make a list of all the changes in the
past 60 to 70 years or even in the last 10 years.
Chicago Sun Times reported this
morning July 20, 2020, 5:10 am…
“70 shot, 10 fatally
in Chicago this week end…
last weekend 64 people
were shot across the city,
13 of them fatally.”
This is not the America of 60 years ago.
What happens with a godless society?
If there is no God where
would a moral right come from?
Everyone does what is right in their own eyes.
I remember when those who believed
in God were the greater majority.
But I also watched the greater
majority become the silent majority.
Jesus was not silent and He did
not tell His disciples to be silent.
He commissioned them to…
“Go make disciple…and teaching them to
obey everything I have
commanded you.
And surely I am with
you always,
to the very end of the
age."
Matthew 28:20
Did you notice the last sentence”?
“And surely I am with you always,
to the very end of the
age.”
If we make disciple, we will have “more” of God.
The silent majority has become less a majority.
If it is fair to ask the question
what happens to a God “less” society…
We have to ask ourselves this question…
How much “less” of God is in my life?
What silence in my life has
caused me to have less of God?
Don’t settle for “less”.
Less of God will destroy a society.
Less of God will destroy you.
Get more of God.
Scripture Reading
Genesis 6:9-14 NIV
Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his
time, and he walked with God. 10 Noah had three sons: Shem, Ham and Japheth.
11 Now the earth was corrupt in God's sight and was full of
violence. 12 God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for all the people on
earth had corrupted their ways. 13 So God said to Noah, "I am going to put
an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I
am surely going to destroy both them and the earth.
Matthew 28:18-ff NIV
"All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to
me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the
name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them
to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to
the very end of the age."
