Fight for Your Family
Normal
If you are a
grandparent or senior you have seen a lot of changes
A lot of those
changes have been good and a lot of those changes not so good
For those just
starting a family
What a senior calls
change, the young person calls normal
Fight for your family
to know God
As Jesus said, “I never knew you. Away from me” Matthew 7:23
The world, the
environment around us is changing
Old normal and new
normal
It is easy to accept
the normal of your time
But is it the normal
in the Kingdom of God?
The differences may
seem drastically different to you
But may not be to
your children
Normal
If you are a grandparent or senior,
you have seen a lot
of changes.
A lot of those changes have been good
and a lot of those changes not so good.
For those just starting a family,
what a senior calls
change,
the young person
calls normal.
Sandy and I watched a new TV show
that some younger people said was good.
In this one episode there were multiple life stories.
To Sandy and I we could see many things
that were not normal 20 years ago and many
things that were not normal even 5 years ago.
It was obvious to us the writers were
determined to rewrite normal life styles.
You were drawn to like the characters
and their passion for needs, but the way
to resolve the needs were not normal
years ago or the moral standard.
I am not a supporter of Urban Dictionary…
for slang words and phrases,
operating
under the motto "Define Your World.
But I do find it interesting the top definition
for “normal” in the Urban Dictionary is…
could single out and attack those who
are different.
The
popularity of this definition
It is true, normal is always changing, so what was
normal in the past may not be normal in the future.
Why? Because in our youth
there is a drive to be self-sufficient.
We want to make a life of our own.
This is a healthy part of maturing.
Otherwise, we would all stay
at home with our parents.
We would not make our own courses and families.
But sadly, we many times want to break the
mold so we will have license to make the
world a place for our freedom and lack of morals.
Normal according to Wikipedia is…
1: conforming to a type, standard, or
regular pattern
2 : occurring naturally normal
immunity
3a : of, relating to, or
characterized by average intelligence
or development IQs within the normal
range
b : free from mental illness :
mentally sound
Maybe the greatest fight we have for
our families is the fight against “normal”.
Conforming to a type,
standard or regular pattern
Conforming takes time…
It must become popular.
When I was in the fight against pornography in Toledo,
we had to bring
evidence into court that the material in the
Adult Book Stores was “offensive by community standard”.
Community Standard sets the normal.
It does not take the majority
to set the Community Standard.
It only takes a few making a lot of noise.
At first the noise is irritating
to the majority of normal.
Life is busy for the majority
and the noise becomes tolerated.
And soon the noise of the minority
becomes the Community Standard.
The third part of the definition tells us
that whatever is the normal thinking
is Average Intelligence.
So when a new normal
is established it claims
those who continue to think the way of the
old normal are mentally ill or mentally unsound.
I do not want to get political but the political arena
is the boxing ring for the fight of “Normal”.
When it comes to politics I take the words of Jesus…
Seek first the Kingdom
of God and all His righteousness.
I like the way the late President Ronald Reagan who said…
“You and I are told we must choose between a left or right,
but I suggest there is no such thing as a left or right.
There is only an up or down... See footnote 1
When I heard NBC News anchor Chuck Todd
suggesting that Trump voters "want to be lied to"
since they believe in "fairy tales" -- like Noah's
Ark.
See footnote
2
I do not know Mr. Todd, but his
words suggest Christians believe
in fairy tales and like to be lied to.
This is an act of saying
Christians are mentally ill.
The frog is a cold blooded animal meaning its
body changes temperature with its surroundings.
Put a frog over a pot of boiling water
and it will try to get out of the heat.
Frogs notice extreme changes.
But put a frog in 70 degree
water and it will be comfortable.
Turn the heat up to 80 and its body will adjust.
It seems to be a myth that a frog in water
slowly rising to a boil will stay there and die.
But it is true that a frog’s temperature
will adjust to its environment.
If the frog were to continue to
change his body temperature with an
environment that came to a boil, it would die.
The definition of family in America
and the world has changed.
What was normal is not normal.
You might be old enough to have seen the changes.
But many of our young people see the definition
of family today as if it has always been this way.
Our role in fighting for our families is not to
fight change because we like what we are used to.
Yes, there are still seniors who will not have a cell phone.
Our fight is for God the Creator, to be Lord of our lives.
To be all He created us to be.
This can only be
accomplished by
upholding the Word of God, the Bible.
Not as a Book of Laws…
But a Love Letter to bring us into a relationship with Him.
In the end what matters is…
Does God know you and do you know Him?
This is the standard of normal in the Kingdom of God.
Those who do not know Him even though
they understood the gift of life He gave
them, will be turned away from eternal life.
As Jesus said, “I
never knew you. Away from me”
Matthew 7:23
Fight for your family to know God.
The world, the environment
around us is changing.
Old normal and new normal.
It is easy to accept the normal of your time,
but is it the normal in the Kingdom of God?
The differences may seem
drastically different to you…
But may not be to
your children.

“You and I are told we must choose between a left or
right, but I suggest there is no such thing as a left or right. There is only
an up or down. Up to man's age-old dream -- the maximum of individual freedom
consistent with order --or down to the ant heap of totalitarianism. Regardless
of their sincerity, their humanitarian motives, those who would sacrifice
freedom for security have embarked on this downward path.” Ronald Reagan

The letter read, "[W]hy do people support Trump?
It's because people have been trained from childhood to believe in fairy tales...
This set their minds up to accept things that make them feel good... The more
fairy tales and lies he tells the better they feel... Show me a person who
believes in Noah's ark and I will show you a Trump voter."
"This gets at something, Dean, that my executive
producer likes to say, 'Hey, voters want to be lied to sometimes.' They don't
always love being told hard truths," Todd told New York Times executive
editor Dean Baquet.
"I'm not quite sure I buy that," Baquet
immediately responded. "I'm not convinced that people want to be lied to.
I think people want to be comforted, and I think bad politicians sometimes say
comforting things to them."
Scripture Reading
Nehemiah 4:12-15 KJV
12 And it came to pass, that when the Jews which dwelt by
them came, they said unto us ten times, From all places whence ye shall return
unto us they will be upon you.
13 Therefore set I in the lower places behind the wall, and
on the higher places, I even set the people after their families with their
swords, their spears, and their bows.
14 And I looked, and rose up, and said unto the nobles, and
to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, Be not ye afraid of them:
remember the Lord, which is great and terrible, and fight for your brethren,
your sons, and your daughters, your wives, and your houses.
15 And it came to pass, when our enemies heard that it was
known unto us, and God had brought their counsel to nought, that we returned
all of us to the wall, every one unto his work.
Matthew 7:21-23 NIV
22 Many will say to
me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name
drive out demons and perform many miracles?' 23 Then I will tell them plainly,
'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'
