Married to a Man Who
Needs Help
Needs, both men and women have them.
God has a purpose in making
man and woman with needs.
The needs God created man and woman
with are met through giving and receiving.
The fulfilled life is recognizing we were
made for relationship and fellowship.
That giving is the answer to receiving.
Throughout the scriptures the
needs of humanity are addressed.
In the beginning God majored on the need of man.
The man is not to be alone.
He was designed for relationship.
God revealed the need of man is a woman, a wife.
There is an order to get needs met.
God made man to be the image and glory of
God but he made woman to be the glory of man.
Woman did not come first but the man.
Yet, “In the Lord,
however,
woman is not
independent of man,
nor is man independent
of woman.
For as woman came from
man,
so also man is born of woman.
But everything comes
from God.”
1Corinthians 1:11-12
If the wife is designed to be her husband’s helpmate…
What needs was God looking at and what is the purpose?
The purpose seems to be very clear.
God made man to lead creation and
the family into the glories of God.
That is a tall order.
When I married Sandy I did so because I
loved her and felt she could help me through life.
When we dated, she put me first in many ways.
She showed confidence in me.
I leaned on her devotion to me for strength and inspiration.
In everything I did,
I looked for her encouragement,
cheerfulness, and confidence.
When I felt like I was failing she is the first person I
look to in order to get back on the track God has for me.
If I lead with commands I find I
do not have the support I need.
But when I allow for communication I
not only get her wisdom but her support.
Man has physical, spiritual and emotional needs.
The key to meeting those needs is loving communication.
Where the vision and issues of life are agreed upon.
As the husband leads, he is looking to his wife’s support.
Out of all the encouragement and support in
the world, hers is the most important to him.
The wife who realizes this will not only
increase her husband’s effectiveness but his love.
Scripture Reading
1 Corinthians 11:7-13 NIV
7 A man ought not to cover his head, since he is the image
and glory of God; but the woman is the glory of man. 8 For man did not come
from woman, but woman from man; 9 neither was man created for woman, but woman
for man. 10 For this reason, and because of the angels, the woman ought to have
a sign of authority on her head.
11 In the Lord, however, woman is not independent of man,
nor is man independent of woman. 12 For as woman came from man, so also man is
born of woman. But everything comes from God.
Genesis 2:18 NIV
18 The Lord God said, "It is not good for the man to be
alone.
I will make a helper
suitable for him."
