Matthew Jesus, Kingdom Message from Attitude to Action

Matthew

Jesus, Kingdom Message from Attitude to Action

Description: Use It or Lose It — HERITAGE Fellowship Description: Bible Verses about 'Light'

Keeping the right attitude is not easy, but Jesus says

Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you. Matthew 5:12

When the Beatitudes are put into action, we become like…

"You are the salt of the earth. Matthew 5:13

"You are the light of the world. Matthew 5:14

Jesus tells us when our Kingdom attitude is put into action

It will bring praise to our Father in Heaven

Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:16

“Our Father in Heaven”, Jesus will speak of Our Father in Heaven a lot

Because He wants us to know the Kingdom of Heaven is made up of family

Our citizenship changes when we are born again

And God becomes our Heavenly Father

Walk in Blessing by living out Godly attitudes

It is all in vain without action

Jesus, Kingdom Message from Attitude to Action

Chapters 3-7…

The Kingdom of Heaven is announced.

Jesus after being led by the Spirit

into the wilderness where He was tempted by the

Devil, begins to preach the Kingdom.

From that time on Jesus began to preach,

"Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near."

Matthew 4:17

Matthew Chapter 5,6,7 is Jesus preaching

the Good News of the Kingdom.

Matthew 4:23

Blessings is Good News.

Some of the other words

we might use to describe a blessed person is…

 Supremely blessed, fortunate, well off.

To feel lucky to have something like…

Health, love, fame, fortune, talent, etc.

But Jesus does not describe blessing as luck.

Jesus does not describe good feelings as blessing.

Think about the feelings or the attitudes

Jesus described as blessed.

The blessings of the Kingdom come

to those with the right attitude.

It has been said…

Attitude will determine your altitude.

There are attitudes that will take you to heaven.

Jesus says these attitudes will bring you…

 Into the Kingdom of Heaven

and the blessings of heaven.

In Verse 11…

Jesus warns us that having these great attitudes

will also bring you trouble.

Blessed are you when people insult you,

persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.

Matthew 5:11

Lies and all kinds of evil

are waged against those with Godly attitudes.

Insults are hurtful because you know

you have the right heart and did things

for the right reason…

But people will still say evil things about you.

One of the most horrible things in life

is having your good spoken evil of.

So Jesus tried to prepare those who

chose to live with Kingdom attitudes.

Jesus also says…

Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven,

for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Matthew 5:12

Jesus describes the Kingdom

attitude as salt and light.

Our Kingdom attitude needs to be an action

Your attitude, Jesus says…

 Is like salt and light.

Salt is salty because of…

Sodium chloride—once dissociated into ions (individual atoms that carry an electrical charge)—imparts salt taste. It is now widely accepted that it is the sodium ion (Na+) that is primarily responsible for saltiness, although the chloride ion (Cl) plays a modulatory role (Bartoshuk, 1980).

Our effectiveness is like salt…

It brings an electrical charge to

plan food to make it taste better.

It also can be used as a preservative for food

to be eaten at a later date.

A little salt can make some foods taste better now…

But the food that won’t be ready to eat

till sometime in the future, needs a lot of salt.

Like salt…

Your Kingdom attitude may not seem like much

Your ability to mourn over evil

To be meek and gentle in your approach

To be merciful when strong judgment is deserved

Light it is an amazing thing….

 It dispels darkness

but not if it is covered.

Light must be brought out into

the open to make a difference.

Light exposes things for what they are…

It exposes both good and bad.

In my showroom, I have special items

I put under lights so every detail can be seen,

all the good, glory, and color.

I also use light to find the dirt…

Whether the dirt is on the floors or walls

or it is on the items on display…

Dirt distracts and makes things unattractive.

Our attitude when put into action

will praise the good works of others.

It will also expose the bad works of others

for the purpose of cleaning and removing

the hindrances of God’s potential in each one of us.

As a seller of antiques…

I get items that have not gotten

the attention they needed.

Recently, I got a radio from 1937.

The dust and dirt were heavy

as it sat in a mechanics garage for years.

I could not wait till I could clean it up.

I took the air hose to it,

then I washed it gently.

After looking at it under the light

and seeing it was clean…

I rubbed it with Liquid Gold to bring out

the beauty the wood once had.

Under the light you can see it is beautiful again…

 Yet not without scars,

but in a way the scars tell a story

of redemption and survival.

Keeping the right attitude

is not easy, but Jesus says…

Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven,

for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Matthew 5:12

Jesus tells us when our Kingdom attitude

is put into action…

It will bring praise to our Father in Heaven.

Let your light shine before men,

that they may see your good deeds

and praise your Father in heaven.

Matthew 5:16

“Our Father in Heaven”,

Jesus will speak of Our Father in Heaven a lot…

Because He wants us to know the

Kingdom of Heaven is made up of family.

Our citizenship changes when we are born again…

And God becomes our Heavenly Father.

Walk in blessings by living out Godly attitudes.

It is all in vain without action.

Scripture Reading

Matthew 5:3-16  NIV

3 "Blessed are the poor in spirit,

for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

4 Blessed are those who mourn,

for they will be comforted.

5 Blessed are the meek,

for they will inherit the earth.

6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,

for they will be filled.

7 Blessed are the merciful,

for they will be shown mercy.

8 Blessed are the pure in heart,

for they will see God.

9 Blessed are the peacemakers,

for they will be called sons of God.

10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,

for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 "Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

13 "You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.

14 "You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.
