James
Light
Truth is the light that comes down from the Father of Light
Truth is what makes us complete and fruitful
No wonder the world says there is no absolute truth
They are using a flaming torch that flickers
And is held in their hands at a horizontal level
Verses the child of the Heavenly Father who walks in the Heavenly Light
That does not flicker and shines from above
The one who receives the Good and Perfect Gift
Sees more clearly because of the Heavenly Light
Those who come to the Light are born again through the Word of Truth
They also do not walk alone
If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. 1 John 1:6-7
What light are you walking by?
Is your light flickering? Is truth relative?
Or, is your light coming down from the Father of Heavenly Light
Where truth is absolute?
Making you perfect and fruitful
Light
James tells us…
Every good and perfect gift is from above,
coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights
James 1:17
Think about light back in the time of James.
There were not electric LEDs or
incandescent and florescent lights.
Light came from the sun, the moon or a fire.
Imagine going out at night when
the moon and sun are not shining.
Maybe you are carrying a torch,
the light from the flame is flickering.
As you walk down a path,
things seem to be moving.
Shadows not only change as you walk,
but the flickering of the flame causes
shadows to appear and disappear.
Finding what you are looking for
can be hard with a flaming torch.
You are not always sure of what you see.
James says our Heavenly Father is Heavenly Light.
Compare the light of the sun
with the light of a fiery torch.
There is no comparison.
The sun lights up everything from a higher
advantage point and it does not flicker.
Where the torch can only be
raised so high and flickers.
James says..
Don't be deceived, my dear brothers.
Every good and perfect gift is from above.
James 1:16,17
The word perfect is teleios in the Greek…
complete (in various applications of labor,
growth, mental and moral character, completeness:
used in the KJV - of full age, man, perfect. Strongs
The gift is completeness in your labor, personal
growth, both mental and moral character.
The making of a perfect person.
That is the Gift from above.
Jesus is the perfect example of the perfect gift.
Jesus the Perfect Gift came from above
so we might be born again.
So His Father might be our Father.
The Father wants to give you perfection.
Verse 18 tells us how…
He chose to give us birth through the word of truth,
that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.
Your birth into the Family of God
comes through the Word of Truth.
Truth is the light that comes
down from the Father of Light.
Truth is what makes us complete and fruitful.
No wonder the world says there is no absolute truth.
They are using a flaming torch that flickers and
is held in their hands at a horizontal level.
Verses the child of the Heavenly Father,
who walks in the Heavenly Light that
does not flicker and shines from above.
The one who receives the Good and Perfect Gift
sees more clearly because of the Heavenly Light.
Those who come to the Light are
born again through the Word of Truth.
They also do not walk alone.
If we claim to have fellowship with
him yet walk in the darkness,
we lie and do not live by the truth.
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light,
we have fellowship with one another,
and the blood of Jesus, his Son,
purifies us from all sin.
1 John 1:6-7
What light are you walking by?
Is your light flickering?
Is truth relative?
Or, is your light coming down from the
Father of Heavenly Light where truth is absolute.
Making you perfect and fruitful?
