James
Law of Freedom
Mercy always makes a way of escape
No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is
faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you
are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.
1 Corinthians 10:13
No matter what the consequences are to your actions or speech
Mercy is there to help you work through it
And remember this
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28
Why does God give Mercy through the Law of Freedom?
He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish,
but everyone to come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9
The Law of Freedom comes from a God of long suffering
He has suffered for you and will suffer for you so you will not be condemned
But discover the Freedom and Liberty His law brings
So make God your God
Speak and act as those who are going to be judged by the law that gives freedom, James 2:12
Show Mercy
Law of Freedom
One of the greatest problems with humanity is…
We want freedom without law.
Whether we want a position
to be above the law or…
We want to fulfill our desires
without consequences.
None of us want to be restricted by law.
If you like to speed…
You do not like speed limit signs.
In the 1960’s young people wanted free love and drugs…
But did not like the consequences of pregnancy and STD.
They did not like the poverty
and death as a result of the drugs.
Ask yourself the question…
If you could remove a law,
what law would you remove?
What are you doing or would like to do,
if you would have not consequences?
We look at laws as something that restricts freedom.
Keeps us from liberty.
James writes of a law that gives Freedom and Liberty.
James says…
Speak and act as those who are going to
be judged by the law that gives freedom.
James 2:12
I have to confess there are times I did not want
to speak and act under the Law of Freedom…
But my life is freer because I did.
God’s law…
Everything He requires us to do,
is to give us a Life of Freedom.
Man has established all kinds of laws to counter
God’s Law and every time we lose freedom.
James tells us we need to think about judgment.
Think about being judged by a law that will set you free.
If a law will give you Freedom,
why would you not want that law?
This Law of Freedom is so freeing it has
a wonderful clause in it called “Mercy”.
If the Law of Freedom is broken or violated,
there is a provision which allows a person to
have a second chance to get what they speak and do right.
It is called “Mercy”.
Everyone under the Law of Freedom is
to show mercy, or else they will not receive mercy.
Think about James words…
Mercy triumphs over judgment!
James 2:13
The Law of Freedom is not there to condemn.
The Law of Freedom will not stop painful
consequences because there is a truth that
for every action there is a reaction.
The reaction is not there to condemn, but
to serve as a reminder of what slavery is.
If a man and a woman decide to engage
in consensual sex outside of marriage and
become pregnant…
The law of freedom is not
abortion, like the laws man makes.
The couple who have broken the Law
of Freedom will become slaves to the
responsibility of that child for life.
Many do not call that freedom, but slavery.
Only by mercy can their act of sin bring them freedom.
Many unwanting to be parents…
Have experienced mercy to discover the joy and
responsibility of giving their time and resources
to seeing their child find fullness of life.
Mercy always makes a way of escape.
No temptation has seized you except what is common to man.
And God is faithful;
he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear.
But when you are tempted,
he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.
1 Corinthians 10:13

And remember this…
And we know that in all things God works
for the good of those who love him,
who have been called according to his purpose.
Romans 8:28

2 Peter 3:9
The Law of Freedom comes from a God of long suffering.
He has suffered for you and will suffer
for you so you will not be condemned…
But discover the Freedom and Liberty His law brings.
So make God your God.
Make His ways your ways.
And…
Speak and act as those who are going to
be judged by the law that gives freedom
James 2:12
So show Mercy.
Scripture Reading
James 2:12-13
12 Speak and act as those who are going to be judged by the law that gives freedom, 13 because judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful. Mercy triumphs over judgment!
