Being
Successful
Image
It should be clear to all of us that what we wear
And how we act portrays an image
The question is what does that image look like?
“The
desires of the flesh”
or
“The
image of God”
IMAGE…
Likeness, representation, to make something visible.
Images they are all around us.
Images of physicals objects.
Images formed in our minds.
We see millions of images every day.
Digital marketing experts estimate that
most Americans are exposed to around
4000 to 10,000 advertisements each day.
Some images will have an impact at
first glance, others impact us as we
see the same thing over and over.
Every image has content.
Although some images are more memorable
than others, images stay with us.
We probably love things that give
us pictures or images more than
any of the other things on earth.
Look at how much time we spend looking at
a computer screen, camera, or television.
What we see with our eyes affects our thinking.
The shapes of images shape our thinking.
After five days of creation God brings up this thing
of “image”.
On the sixth
day of creation God creates
mankind male and female in His Image.
God says… “Let us make mankind in our image”.
“Let us”... you and I know that us
means more than one.
Who was God referring to?
In Hebrews 1:1-2…
We see God
the Father and the Son made the universe.
It was not just man that was made in the image
of God it was male and female, see Genesis 1:27.
After God had made male and female,
He said it
was “very good”.
Originally, we were perfectly designed by God.
When God created male and female in His image,
it was in that image they were to rule,
govern God’s earth and all He created.
Because we are almost 7000 years from
the first man and woman and because of
the growing sin problem over those years…
It is hard for us to see the image
of God in men and women.
I heard one person say…
“If God created man in His own image,
I
have no interest in meeting Him.”
How sad.
If we want to
be successful in life we
need to give a lot of thought to our image.
We need to ask our self the question…
Do
I look like God?
We are not statues, we clothe
ourselves and are expressive.
The Bible says… Put on Christ.
“Rather,
clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ,
and
do not think about how to gratify the desires
of
the flesh.” Romans 13:14
We catch a glimpse of the dress code in Colossians
3:12…
“Therefore,
as God's chosen people, holy and
dearly
loved, clothe yourselves with compassion,
kindness,
humility, gentleness and patience.”
It should be clear to all of us that what we
wear and how we act portrays an image.
The question is what does that image look like?
“The
desires of the flesh”
or
“The
image of God”
Scripture
Reading
Genesis 1 27-27
26 Then God said, “Let us make mankind
in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea
and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over
all the creatures that move along the ground.”
27 So God created mankind in his own
image,
in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.
in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.
