Mind
Your Own Business
Do you know what his business is?
One of the hardest things to do
is mind your own business.
Most of us have an uncontrollable urge
to put in our two cents.
We generally don’t want the job,
but we do want to tell others
how to do theirs.
This temptation is as strong as lust and greed.
Sticking our nose in
someone else’s business;
we can be good at disguising it.
In fact, we don’t always realize
we are doing it.
Because most of the time –
we are concerned.
The problem isn’t being concerned.
It’s getting in the way.
Or, conversations with others
that leave doubts
about another person.
Something to remember is…
What is your authority?
And what is
the authority
of someone else?
Don’t over-step your authority.
God gives each one of us authority
and with it come responsibility.
The Bible teaches us that as Christians
we are to be involved in each other’s lives.
But we must answer the question…
What does involved
mean?
There are many exhortations,
encouragements and commands
for
Christians to love each other,
stand
by each other,
speak
the truth in love for one another
and
even to correct, rebuke
and
admonish one another.
So clearly, if a brother is in sin,
then we have a moral responsibility
for his own spiritual welfare,
to speak to him…
(to
HIM, privately, not anyone else)
seeking to win him from his folly.
Let others have their freedom –
Mind your own business!
Scripture
Reading
2 Thessalonians 3:11-13 AMP
11 Indeed, we hear that some among you
are disorderly
[that they are passing their lives
in idleness, neglectful of duty],
being busy with other people's affairs
instead of their own
and doing no work.
12 Now we charge and exhort such persons
[as ministers in Him exhorting those]
in the Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah)
that they work in quietness
and earn their own food
and other necessities.
13 And as for you, brethren,
do not become weary
or lose heart in doing right
[but continue in well-doing
without weakening].
