Matthew Kingdom Prayer, Our Father

Matthew

Kingdom Prayer, Our Father

Each word Jesus gives us on how to pray is powerful

So take your time when you read it

Think about the first two words

“Our Father”

Whether your prayers are personal or for others

You are connected with not only a Father, but all His children

Therefore, Prayer is a family thing

You and I are not alone as we pray for blessing, happiness and prosperity

This was the prayer of the prophets, teachers,

And all God’s children from the beginning of God creating man in His own image

You may at times feel alone when you pray and wonder if God is listening,

You may feel like darkness is all around

But your family of God from all over the world and throughout time

Has prayed prayers that somehow have included you

So be sure to pray for your brothers and sisters everywhere

And pray for those who have not been born again

Matthew

Kingdom Prayer, Our Father

Matthew Chapters 3-7…

The Kingdom of Heaven is announced

Jesus, after being led by the Spirit into the wilderness

where He was tempted by the Devil

began to preach the Kingdom.

From that time on Jesus began to preach,

“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.”

Matthew 4:17

Kingdom prayer…

 “Our Father”

It is good to remind us

that out of the four Gospels

Matthew focuses on the Kingdom of Heaven.

Matthew from the beginning of the book…

 The introduction of Jesus,

To the end of the Book…

The resurrection of Jesus to eternal life,

All focuses on the Kingdom of Heaven.

This is so clearly seen when

Jesus teaches us how to pray.

Each word of Jesus’ instruction is full of truth…

Treasures that have been discovered by

the Children of God (Jews and Old Testament believers)

And rediscovered by Children of God

who have been born again

by the Spirit of God in the New Testament.

Jesus’ first word magnifies the identity of the unity

we have from the beginning of creation.

“Our” meaning company, us, we.

Prayer is for all of us.

Jesus tells us our connection in prayer is powerful…

"Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for,

it will be done for you by my Father in heaven.

For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them."

Matthew 18:19-20

The second word…

 “Father”

Reveals the relationships we have with “God”.

We are His children.

 So when we read…

 “Our Father”

We see that no matter how

personal your prayers are…

They are connected with our brothers and sisters

from the beginning of creation.

The reason you are a Child of God

and address God as Father is because…

Of the prayers of the Children of God

from the beginning.

Think about it when you pray…

Your Father is hearing your voice

and the agreement of all the past prayers with yours.

No wonder Paul says…

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.

With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

Ephesians 6:18

Whether your prayers are personal

or for others…

You are connected with not only

a Father, but all His children.

Therefore…

 Prayer is a family thing.

You and I are not alone as we pray for

blessing, happiness and prosperity.

This was the prayer of the prophets, teachers,

and all God’s children from the beginning

of God creating man in His own image.

You may at times feel alone when you pray

and wonder if God is listening.

You may feel like darkness is all around.

But your family of God from all over the world

and throughout time…

Has prayed prayers that somehow have included you.

So be sure to pray for your

brothers and sisters everywhere.

And pray for those who have not been born again.

Remember brothers and sisters of long ago

who prayed for the same things you pray for

and look at how Our Father answered their prayers.

Because God’s children live forever…

There is a great cloud of witness

who are continuing to cry out to the Father.

Even if we are praying for our life…

God is hearing your prayers

with other brothers and sisters

who were slain.

When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony they had maintained. They called out in a loud voice, "How long, Sovereign Lord, holy and true, until you judge the inhabitants of the earth and avenge our blood?" Then each of them was given a white robe, and they were told to wait a little longer, until the number of their fellow servants and brothers who were to be killed as they had been was completed.

Revelation 6:9-11

Our Father hears your prayers and theirs.

He will give you the grace and strength

if you have to wait for the full answer.

Our Father hears you and you are not alone.

Scripture Reading

Matthew 6:9-13 NIV

9 "This, then, is how you should pray:

"'Our Father in heaven,

hallowed be your name,

10 your kingdom come,

your will be done

on earth as it is in heaven.

11 Give us today our daily bread.

12 Forgive us our debts,

as we also have forgiven our debtors.

13 And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from the evil one.'
