Do We, the People
Still hold that our inalienable
rights
Come from God our Creator?
The Declaration of
Independence Declares God
The most famous line of
The Declaration of Independence is…
We hold these truths to be self-evident,
that they are endowed by their Creator
with
certain unalienable Rights, that among
these are
The Declaration says,
“certain unalienable rights”
The Continental Congress of July 4, 1776,
declared men to have the right to
“Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness”
Where do we get these “rights”?
The Congressional Leaders of
the thirteen American colonies said
they came from man’s Creator.
This truth they stated was “self-evident”.
Paul the apostle writes to the
Romans with this same argument.
For since the creation of the world
God's invisible
qualities —
his eternal power and divine nature
—have been clearly seen,
being understood from what has been made,
so that men are without excuse.
We strongly believe in “Independence”…
The ability to rule ourselves and
not be under the authority of a dictator.
The signers of the Declaration
of Independence agreed with Paul.
They are “clearly
seen” or “self-evident”.
True “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness”
cannot be achieved without God.
Recognizing God created us all
will keep us from seeking gain
at the expense of others.
Let’s not let the obvious go unrecognized.
fireworks, cookouts, songs and games.
But let’s not forget to give our Creator
thanks for making our rights clear.
“I came that you might
have life” – Jesus Christ
“I came to set the
captive free” – Jesus
Christ
Scripture Reading
16 I am not
ashamed of the gospel,
because it
is the power of God
for the
salvation of everyone who believes:
first for
the Jew, then for the Gentile.
7 For in the
gospel a righteousness
from God is
revealed,
a
righteousness that is by faith from first to last,
just as it
is written:
"The
righteous will live by faith."
18 The wrath
of God is being revealed from heaven
against all the godlessness and wickedness of
men
who suppress
the truth by their wickedness,
19 since
what may be known
about God is
plain to them,
because God
has made it plain to them.
20 For since
the creation of the world
God's
invisible qualities —
his eternal
power and divine nature
— have been
clearly seen,
being
understood from what has been made,
so that men
are without excuse.
